District Deputy Grand Masters
(2015-2026)
Brethren, It is indeed a great honour for me to serve as Eastern District’s District Deputy Grand Master for the year 2025 – 2026. It is great privilege for me and a great journey to be asked to representative our District in the MAED DDGM rotation. I have many things still to learn from our past DDGMs, but I rest assured that when I need help, Eastern District will be there. I will do my best to live up to the high standards set by my predecessors. I am looking forward to a very enjoyable year.
I had the occasion, at my information sessions to meet with the Eastern District Masters and Secretaries and other brethren to explain what I would like to see happening in our lodges. The theme for my year is “Take Pride”. Be proud to belonging to a great Fraternity as we continue its lengthy legacy.
During my term I will be looking for, Good ritual in openings, closings, and degree work.
Masonic Education – Instruct the Brethren on the history of the Lodge and furniture.
Mentorship -help our new E.A’s, F.C. and newly raised brethren with their memory work, and all other aspect of learning the mechanics of how a Lodge functions and also the banquet hall protocol.
I feel we should all be part in promoting our Fraternity, with family, friends, and people who are curious about who and what we are. Be present in your local community’s events. Freemasonry is asking of us to be upright and charitable people.
The Frederick Earl Eaton Masonic Memorial Bursary will be the recipient of my charity fund raising. There will be events organized throughout the district to help raise funds for the bursary. Your participation at these events would be very much appreciated. It is our most important philanthropic endeavor, supporting the education of young students. It is a very noble cause.
In summation my Brethren, let us all take pride in every aspect of Masonry. Remember what it means to be a Mason and to be proud of being one.
Looking forward to seeing you during the year at events and Official Visits.
Best Fraternal Regards,
R.W. Bro. Guy Laberge
District Deputy Grand Master – Eastern District
Brethren of Eastern District. It’s with great pleasure and pride that I say thank you very much for electing me to serve as your District Deputy Grand Master for 2015 -2016. In Eastern district it was a long journey to get here.Dan-Wert large
I would like to thank the members of Finch Lodge No. 557 for originally nominating me for the position as 2nd Vice President to our MAED association. But since that time Finch lodge has gone into darkness and although I dearly miss the fellowship with those brethren that we formed with each other over thirty years, having joined Lost Villages NO. 256 another door of opportunity has opened.
I must thank them for the support that they have given me, and the commitment to make the ensuing year a success in allowing me to be a representative of the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Canada in the Province of Ontario, M.W John C. Green.
Pride in Masonry will be my motto this year and I hope it will continue into the future.
To encourage new membership we must show pride in what we do and who we are. Without pride there is no reason to ask members to do degree work to the best of their ability . Always try to wear a symbol to show the world who you are. With that thought, this year I will give each new Mason, Fellowcraft and Master Mason a gift of a ring so that they can proudly show the world that they are a member of one of the best fraternal societies known to mankind.
Yours Fraternally

District Deputy Grand Master
It is my great honour and distinct pleasure to serve as the District Deputy Grand Master of Eastern District for the 2024-25 Masonic year. I am looking forward to continuing the support of our Grand Lodge REM program and bringing my own theme of Illumination to our district. In doing so I hope to demonstrate that light still emanates from the East. I have also chosen the Frederick Earl Eaton Memorial Bursary Fund as my district charity. Let’s continue to foster the light in the leaders of tomorrow.
Fraternally,
R.W. Bro. Daniel G. Roddick

District Deputy Grand Master
Brethren,
I am indeed greatly honored to serve as District Deputy Grand Master for 2019-2020. I anticipate the experience will be even more rewarding and fulfilling than the journey to get here. Heading into this office seems daunting, however, I am confident that with the traditional support of Eastern District, I will be able to live up to the high standards set by my predecessors and have a very enjoyable year.
During my term in office, I have several goals to accomplish for the betterment of our District.DSCN0299
While I firmly believe we should all adhere to our vow of daily advancement in Masonic knowledge, there are times when our Worshipful Masters are flummoxed to find Brothers to execute a particular piece of work in the Ritual. I would like to continue the existing efforts in this area by creating a formal Eastern District index of the work.
Globally, the numbers of Freemasons are declining as our Brethren ascend, and many are not replaced. I feel we should all undertake to promote our Fraternity to those we feel will embrace it. Our standards are high and the Work difficult and we cannot compromise this. I believe the best promotion is to be vocal, be charitable and exemplary.
The Frederick Earl Eaton bursary fund is our most important philanthropic endeavor, supporting the education of Youth is a most noble cause. To ensure the Foundation is on the firmest of economic footings, I, like my predecessors R.W. Bro. Len Finnamore and R.W. Bro. Paul Riddell.
am naming this as my District charity 2019-2020.
In summation my Brethren, let us all strive to excel in everything we do, remember what it means to be a Mason and be proud.
Best Fraternal Regards,
R.W. Bro. David Noseworthy
District Deputy Grand Master
Brethren:
I am extremely honoured and privileged to serve as the Grand Master’s
representative for Eastern District for the ensuing year. I am particularly grateful to the members of Cornwall-Corinthian Lodge for submitting my name, and to the brethren of the District for supporting their nomination. I have thoroughly enjoyed the support and guidance from all brethren within the District which has better prepared me for the responsibilities and duties of my office.R.W.Bro. Finnamore
My theme for the year will be: “Building through Participation”.
Our fraternity is not without challenges, especially with respect to a declining
membership. I look forward to working together to ensure that Masonry remains vital and vibrant throughout our District. I plan to achieve this goal by having the Lodges work together in sharing resources and information. I would like to have maximum
on-going participation in district events including the meetings of the Masonic Associ-ation of Eastern District whilst maintaining the material relating to your lodge on the District web site. Working together as a team will most certainly make this an achievable goal.
Best Fraternal Regards,
R.W. Bro. Len Finnamore
District Deputy Grand Master
Let me first thank you the Brethren of Eastern District, for all your support over the past several years, resulting in our Grand Master Investing me as the DDGM of Eastern District for the 2017-18 Masonic year.
Since my Initiation in 1981 I have been involved in Masonry in three different Lodges,20170726_191847_resized Worshipful Master of two and Secretary for ten years at Cardinal Lodge No. 491. The most meaningful of these years have been the last five years when I became involved in the Masonic Association of Eastern District, where I had the opportunity to work hand in hand with Masons who were dedicated to improving the good work that the Association does.
Thus my theme for the year:
“Pride in the District and Involvement in Your Lodge”.
I encourage you to go to represent your Lodge at the nine Association meetings each year and show your support for the hard working Masons who Support this organization.
Best Fraternal Regards,
R. W. Bro. Paul J. Riddell

FREDERICK EARLE EATON
MASONIC MEMORIAL BURSARY CHARITABLE TRUST
The Trust is commonly referred to as the: Frederick Earle Eaton Masonic Memorial Bursary Fund, however the full legal name is as it appears at the top of this page.
The “FUND” was established to honor the late R.W. Bro. Frederick Earle Eaton and to commemorate the great contribution he made to Freemasonry in Eastern District.
R.W. Bro. FREDERICK EARLE EATON:
R.W. Bro. Eaton was the Worshipful Master of Cornwall Lodge No. 125 in 1929. He was made a Life Member in 1952, and elected D.D.G.M. of Eastern District in 1946. He was the No. 1 Charter Member and first Worshipful Master of Corinthian Lodge No. 669 in 1952. He passed to the Grand Lodge Above on June 7, 1965. R.W. Bro. Eaton was a Supreme Ritualist, serving as Installing Master for Cornwall Lodge No. 125 from 1940, Corinthian Lodge No. 669 from 1952 as well as many other Lodges in the District.
HISTORY OF THE BURSARY FUND:
1963-The Past Masters’ Association of Eastern District passed a motion to establish a Bursary Fund with a minimum Bursary of $100 for a deserving student who was a Mason or the Son or Daughter of a Mason of the District, with preference given to a student pursuing theological studies.
1967-Application made to have the Fund registered as a Charitable Foundation.
Final approval was not obtained until November 30, 1974. Bursaries must now be made available to all qualifying applicants and not limited to Masons or those with Masonic connections. In the past few years, as many as 50% of the successful applicants have had no Masonic connections.
Thank you for your support
R.W.Bro. Paul J. Riddell
Prostate Hope
Eastern District will continue to support the Grand Master’s Prostate Hope Charity. Last year our district, in conjunction with matching funds from our community banks, the Masonic Foundation of Ontario and the Ottawa Hospital Foundation, was able to raise over $80,000. This concerted effort hopes to raise One Million Dollars to be applied towards research and awareness of this very serious disease that affects one in seven men over the age of 55. Early detection and diagnosis is one of the best ways to conquer this disease and in this respect we will encourage our members to have annual testing. Funds collected under various activities scheduled for the coming 12 months will be directed to support research into new medical treatments for prostate cancer patients.
Masonic Association of Eastern District Student Bursary
The District continues to support local students through the MAED Bursary Program. Over the years, tens of thousands of dollars have been awarded to dozens of students eager to continue post secondary education. Our children are our future. Let’s give them every opportunity to advance their education in these times of reduced opportunities and higher competition. We encourage our members to make a tax deductible contribution to the MAED Bursary to help support this important educational support program.
Multiple Myeloma Canada
In support of my theme promoting “to make a daily advancement in Masonic knowledge”, I am instituting a “Book of the Work Buy Back Program”. To encourage uniformity of ritual work in our district it is my desire to have everyone with only the latest version of our Work. I am offering $1 for the return of each out of date Book of the Work. ( Current revision is 2013). Furthermore , for each book I will make a contribution of $1 to the Multiple Myeloma Canada, involved in the research of several debilitating blood cancers.
Thank you for your support

Masons are spiritual and moral people, but there’s no room for discussion of sectarian religion or partisan politics in freemasonry.
Members are free to follow their own path, as long as it fits with the ethical principles of integrity and virtue symbolized by the square and compasses—the icon most commonly associated with Masonry.
